To some of you this might be completely new information whilst others might know about it. There will be more to GEARSOC.com than just this forum, and I thought I should take the time to offer you a quick brief of what's to come.

As I said, there's more to GEARSOC.com then this forum and to be honest, this forum is just a small part of GEARSOC.com. As I write this thread, work continues with photos, articles, information gathering, coding and designing the main site.

The site we are working on can be described as a mix of a wikipedia, specwargear.com and a product guide. Or perhaps an online museum of tactical gear and accessories if you will.

I know all you guys out there have been browsing loads of different sites and forums searching for information or pictures of that certain piece of equipment atleast once in your lifetime. Looking for that piece of critical information that will decide if that item is something for you or not.

Our long-term goal is to make GEARSOC.com the first site you will go to in your quest for information and we hope to provide you with all the necessary information you need to make your decision and then some.

Each article featured on GEARSOC.com will include facts, plenty of high quality images and links to retailers or manufacturers. However, we will not post any reviews. We leave that up to the end user and would be glad if you want to send us your reviews for publishing once the site has launched.

GEARSOC.com is a non-profit site, and all items featured have been paid for by the GEARSOC CREW, or donated by the manufacturer or retailer of that item.
At the moment, we cannot give you a date for the launch of the main site. It's done when it's done and we ask you to be patient with us since all work is done in our sparetime.

In the picture below you can find a sneak preview of some of the items that has been worked on this far. We have plenty more to finish, and work goes on in a steady pace.

I hope you will all enjoy the site and this forum, and I also hope you will do your best to contribute with information, pictures, opinions and suggestions on how to improve the site and this forum.

In the meen time, if you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to post them in this thread or contact me via e-mail at Simpen[at]gearsoc.com (remove the [at] and replace it with an "@")

Drax: Id say its no more than fair to the rest of us that you actually steer some cash towards a good camera a tripod and some associated equipment :D Your pile of nylon deserves that.

http://www.gearsoc.com is proud to announce that a facebook-page (http://www.facebook.com/gearsoc) and an IRC-channel (#gearsoc @ quakenet) have been made. This was done for the most important people, You. The people of gearsoc, because without you this forum would not exist.

Hang around, get to know your fellow forum-members and have a chat in the IRC-channel.

Information regarding "gearsoc the concept" will be posted (yes, there is a concept behind all this :) ) in all three types of media.

Just joined the facebook group. :D

Also... as far as the museum goes, are you looking to make a database of all kit? I got some very rare and old Army SOF items that I would be willing to take nice pics of, and write about if you are looking for contributions like that.

I sure like how plenty of high quality images sound. I wish you all the luck.
