Are you talking about foam versions of the hard plate?

rockywoods.com had something similar, but I haven't checked them in a while.
It's pretty thin, and doesn't really offer any padding alone imo. In multiple layers or with foam it's ok, but it holds sweat and water which is bad.

I would just use normal cordura with sewn in padding (I use something called Plastazote (or something like that))...
But a lot of people like the 3d mesh stuff, and it's great for some environments or when you have access to a place to dry it. However, in my opinion, there is nothing worse than getting up in the middle of the night in a tent and to put on a cold and wet plate carrier when it's freezing outside.

The "military mesh" from rocky woods is only 2 or 3mm thick. I tried to use it for a should strap pad on a messenger bag and it definitely need a foam backer.

It is possible to get some thicker 6mm, 8mm and 10mm spacer fabrics in the UK. However, I still prefer to use 3mm spacer, backed with plastazote, over 6mm spacer alone. The padding feels much more substantial, since the spacer just gets compressed.

I used a company called Hindleys or something in the UK. It should be around £3-5 per sheet... Shipping might get real expensive (due to size), so just order very little or a big bunch.

edit: there is a company in Norway which has the same stuff (under a different name). I can't remember what they are called, but it's one of the few companies in Norway that produce/deal medical use foam etc. so it can't be that hard to google them.

Extremtextil.de got a couple:

I've got a good track record dealing with them, and as i recall, shipping costs weren't that high.
