I don't usually do pouches, but Eagle made an outstanding small GP pouch in their SPCS kit (I think the SOFLCS version is the 100rd SAW pouch?). Instead of buying one I decided to use my morning to make one. I've got one done, and another on the sewing machine. Completely free-hand, no pattern. It turned out very well, I think.

500D Multicam, Murdock webbing, ITW buckles, I left off the drain hole. LBT style MOLLE attachment, since it's simple and works well (may need to adjust the MOLLE, but we'll see).

I've always loved the Eagle nutsack pouches.
Perfect utility pouches that will fit most stuff, yet still small enough to not let you overload it with stupid bullshit you don't really need.

Nice job.

Sewed this up today:

Crye-style double mag pouch with hypalon PALS backing. Not quite identical to the Crye design, I made a few changes to reduce the complexity and reinforce it better. Unfortunately I ran out of Multicam elastic right before I made this... Unlike most copies floating around this version holds two PMAG 30rders. Total pouch weight is 2oz, I think I can get it down to 1.5oz if I use LiteLok.

Are these the WTFix backings or something else?

Yep, the WTF ones. They're pretty ingenious, and very affordable.

those backers look pretty good. i picked up some attachments from him last week.

you're stitching is good. it looks like you're sewing pretty close to the edge of your binding tape. i like to sewing 1/8th inch from either edge to make sure i'm grabbing the material.

is that webbing on the bottom of the pouch?

Thanks - I'm a fan.

I stitch close and far, I start far and then stitch close to tighten it up. Still getting used to working with the edging material though, I don't usually work with it (I prefer to fold the fabric).

Yes, that's a strip of 1" webbing for reinforcement of the front. I can see why it's there, to provide reinforcement from the lips of the GI metal mags, but I'm not convinced it's necessary with the polymer mags I prefer.

i agree about the binding material. i'm not a fan for using it on the outside of pouches. there's a ton of other ways to get around it.

nice job though!

Trying out Hypalon... without a laser cutter. What can I say, I like to live dangerously.

Made an LV-RBAV-style cummerbund for my Sleeper using an old AVS cummerbund I had lying around. It didn't work out great, since I had to swap thread from #69 to #80 about halfway through the project because I ran out, so for the hypalon sections it's #80 since I burned the #69 on a project for someone else.

Made an 'FB' style mag pouch with some cannibalized parts from a melted Eagle FB SFLCS pouch. Got some more 69# thread in so I'm back to sewing stuff. Next time I'll make the pouch piece a little narrower so it's a tighter fit on the insert (though, to be fair, the insert was smaller than usual because of a bad accident in its previous life).
