I picked this uniform set up from a retired Marine (also have a boonie i havent recieved yet). The story goes that he was a "Coyote" instructor at 29 Palms (Tactical Training Excercise Control Group). In 2006 he requested through Crye (and other manufacturers) any new camo or uniform types that they wanted to test out. He claims this version came from Crye. There are no tags or size tags listed anywhere (i checked every pocket). I have no reason to doubt the Marine because he's legit and has other prototype gear. He said they tested this uniform and the feedback wasnt that high due to the lighter-weight material and the dark marks looked like dried blood.

Has anyone seen this camo pattern and could it actually be Crye? The uniform construction is more of an ACU cut and unlike any Crye uniform type ive seen. I know Crye started more of a camouflage and design company and then later on started to actually manufacturer they're own uniforms. Could this have been a Crye designed pattern that they subcontracted to another company to make the uniform? Any info would be greatly appreciated!! (Have more photos if needed)

I have no knowledge of this camo or uniform, but as you stated yourself, it doesn't look anything like Crye as far as assembly and design, especially considering that by 2006, Crye's first generation of field uniform was already well within a full year of field use at least. I would assume the garments themselves are not coming from them.
As for the camo, it is hard to tell. At that point in time, Crye was certainly more flexible than what it is nowadays, so special camo projects, even for super small requierments, is a possibility... It is also possible that what we're looking at is just one of the early alpha projects leading to Scorpion pattern, meaning only limited developments for them...

Okay ive been told now on a different forum its (or very close) to Hyperstealth SpecAm Desert Viper. Now with that knowledge, is this stuff hard to get or still pretty rare?

Never seen USMC test Hyperstealth. Wasnt it mainly an Army trial?

Ok mystery solved. I sent the photos to Hyperstealth's email listed on their website and i got an actual reply from Guy Cramer concerning these. This is the email i got back:

"That would be the SpecAm Desert Viper. Only 10 were made.

So this is ultra rare with only 10 out there. And who knows how many of the 10 sets are actually still around

The Marine digital pattern winter camo was developed by hyperstealth as well.
