Gents,

My buddy has a problem with finding the right goretex size for himself.
He's 207 cm (6'7''). His size for MCCUU for example is L/XL. But gtx in that size is nowhere to be found.

Any idea what his options are, other then cutting his legs off short ?

He tought about getting the gtx in L/L then lenghtening it wit extra gtx fabric in woodland marpat but he has no clue where to find it. I've browsed this forum for some link but with no luck.

You input is appreciated.

Goretex in L/XL does exist, but it's VERY rare. That's <1% of the military population, and it won't be produced in sizable amounts. He can try to find some, but honestly he's probably out of luck.

Come to Ireland, where all our goretex is XL!

Either he can keep hounding Q staff until they find a set or give him one so that he stops annoying them.
Or he could try and find out if there is a mechanism for, or if the Army is willing , to pay for all or part of a set if he finds it on civi street.

I know that here goretex is considered PPE so you must have it and if you have to get it yourself then the army has to pay you back the money.

F_M, thing is he's a very fit dude, just tall as fuck, too tall for gear anyway.
So he's not a XL size, XL is simply too wide for him.

I assume you guys have considered using gaiters on top of the gtx pants?
Short of that, I think there's a couple of gore licensed custom shops in Europe (there's one in Switzerland for sure, don't know where exactly though) that could lengthen pants if you provide them with the right material. If you don't know where to get that material, I would assume that the safest way is to buy a second set of pants, but your friend would end up with a freakin expensive pair of pants when all is said and done...
The last option would be to get some arc'teryx gtx socks to use in conjunction with the L/L pants...

Assuming it's for field use (bbwars or whatever, doesn't matter) I think jack's idea of getting gaiters would be his best bet.

These in coyote are what's issued to Marines (unless that changed recently).

Note that you can find them on eBay and whatnot for much cheaper, usually about $60.

I have two sets (one in coyote for tactical stuff that I use all year long in wetlands, bushwacking and winter as well as one in black for winter treks/mountaineering) and I've been very satisfied with them.

That's what I told him, I use the same from OR.
But then he still got a problem with sleeves, so that's half a solution.

From all the options maybe the best one is that he get's another GTX and lenghtens the sleeves and pants with one extra set of pants.

Does it have to be camouflage? As Arc'tryex makes the LEAF series in long lengths in coyote brown
