I'm trying to figure out if I want to order a MR NICE FRAME with or without the Bolstered Ventilation and Stability (BVS) System...

I've owned a SATL and when you carried that for a extended time the BVS system tended to dig into your lower back if you weren't carrying a plate carrier. I don't know if they have changed the design of these now (I've heard so) so they won't do that anymore.

So, for you guys that have tried and own a NICE FRAME w. or w/o BVS - what do you think?

Primarily I carry the pack w/o a PC as I use it for regular backpacking but I don't want it sliding around on my back if I use a PC for a longer walk.

If you're buying it new, AFAIK they've pretty much all been updated with the removable BVS.

Okay that sounds familiar!

Just saw the SHOT Show 2012 video with MR and that confirms what you are saying.
NICE FRAME with BVS system it is then :)

Even with the "fixed BVS", you can work around it. At least, with the Futura frame (which is on the 3DAP amongst others).

You just have to unzip the zipper above the BVS from the outside, then pull it lower from the inside. At that point, you should be able to remove the BVS' padding from the inside of the pack. The fabric/mesh pocket will still be there, but you can barely feel it.

Hope that helps!
