I came across this eagle backpack searching the web one day and feel it would suit my needs perfectly. However, I can't find it for sale anywhere except the above link, which is obviously out of stock. Just for giggles I emailed the company and got the expected response that their is no expected restock date, these are all randomly received items, blah blah, blah. End of the line is I need a multipurpose pack that I can use to carry my everyday school supplies that also has the ability to function as a small assault pack. The beaver tail design seems extremely useful and adaptable to different situations, which leaves me surprised that more manufactures do not incorporate them into their designs.

So what other options are out there? I've looked into the standard Yote and feel the MOLLE on the back panel may be cumbersome. The First Spear options looked nice as well, however they appear way to small to carry the equipment I would need to. Are there any other packs that stick out in the same design profile and function? I even looked into getting one sewn up by a local guy but he quoted me something like $500 which is way out of the budget for me. In reality I need to stay under $200 if anyone can recommend some other options. I am not too familiar with the backpack market so I may be missing some obvious contenders to some.

School Supplies:
1.5" binder
15" laptop
HUGE a$$ calculator
nalgene bottle
a small collapsible cooler (about the size of a 1L hydro bladder)
running shoes (reason I desire a BT)

Assault Supplies:
~5 AR mags
extra 3L bladder
soft shell
small food supply
small tool kit
batteries

I appreciate your input and plan to give some contribution to these forums.

Check following brands:

AWS Inc.
Platatac
TAD Gear
TYR Tactical
LBT
Kifaru
Mystery Ranch

All have packs with some sort of beavertail, some offer it as accessory.

Those AWS packs are long gone. Probably won't see them for a good while now.

I'd suggest looking for a used one. I just picked up a yote second-hand, brand new. They're out there - a lot of people bought them thinking that they looked cool but never used them.

Tyr Tactical, T3 Gear and Platatac all make a Yote-like pack with beaver tails.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I hadn't seen either the T3 or Platatac models anyone know what happened to the Platatac MK1 design, it honestly looks superior?

Edit: For reference does anyone have a general size with any of these specific packs? I'm not too sure they will be wide enough to hold a laptop.
