It's really up to you and what you prefer. Isn't the eagle also in 1000d cordura?

The pros i see with the mayflower is:
1. different sized cummers. This will get you a better fit.
2. 500d cordura. Lighter.
3. Ability to quickly attach/detach a chest rig specifically made for the pc.
4. Cheaper. Not a lot, but still.
5. _A LOT_ nicer shoulder pads than eagle and lbt with some 3d(?) mesh.

The cons i see are:
1. The quality might not be on par with Eagle. Me and a friend who ordered a couple of APC had problems with stitching on the integral admin pouch due to a missed step in production. This was solved with replacement front carriers. However, their customer service was brilliant to deal with. We also got some free-bees.
2. Not as many 'cool guys' wearing it as the eagle and lbt dito.
3. Not the same abilities for cable and antenna wiring as eagle and lbt.

I own both APC and 6094: APC wins for the design and 6094 for the material (1000d)

APC design is better (apart the above mentioned reasons) because of the kangaroo pouch:

when you use the kangaroo pouch with 6094 and then need to open cummerbund it is a problem, bacause the pouch is locaded in the frontal part you have to lift up to open the vest and magazines interfere with this procedure. Mayflower's mag insert is seamed to the body of the vest so when you open the cummerbund the magazines stay in place.

Umm... I thought the entire idea about a PC was to open up for a wide range of motion, and keep it lightweight. So how does using a heavier material considered better than a lighter material?

As I wrote in a thread on LF, most people doesn't need their gear to last 10 years in combat, they accept that it might be 3-5 years instead, but in return get a lighter product.

It think that it always comes on how much you use a piece of gear: if you spend your tour of duty patrolling 16 hrs each day or you need a bomb-proof vest for Armageddon-zombie hunting 1000d should be preferred.

if you are a DA guy 500d is better.

that said, a plate carrier is usually preferred over a BA for mobility, so I imagine that a 500d plate carrier makes more sense than a 1000d one (as you stated)..

best regards

I'll be getting an Eagle APC (6094 type, sometimes called devgru plate carrier). And i'll be glad to do a write up and directly compare it to the Mayflower APC if anyone's interested.

I am very interested. I went for the new MRC APC but I did like some of the aspects on the Eagle APC. Is it by the way 500D or 1000D?

What type of cordura the eagle carrier is i haven't got the slightest idea since i haven't received it yet. When I do i'll give it a proper write-up.

The one I have is 500D. Don't know what the case is with the commercially available ones that have been showing up lately though.

Ok so I have been looking at these two carriers as well.
I decided on the Mayflower based on a few criteria for me at least.
1. Price, this is especially true as I want a Desert Digital one.
2. The cummerbund options.
3. the internal plate adjustment strap, for holding the plate up tight to the top.
4. the fact the Kangaroo pouch is under the cummerbund.
5. the potential for use with different chest rigs on it if needed or wanted.

But here is a question, does anyone know if the LBT 2645 kangaroo insert will fit in the Mayflower APC Kangaroo?

Mayflower offers it's own insert.
