Looking to buy a good chest rig.
After searching for a while on the internet, I got interested in the mayflower chest rig.
Especially the UW IV and UW V.

Would you recommend a split chest rig?
Are there disadvantages of using one?

Do you have other chest rig recommendations and advice?

It really depends on your needs. I've read a lot of times, in this forum among others, that split front chest rigs are best if you have to be in prone position for a long time, also, they're easier to put on and off. Others see it as a matter of preference.

There are people here with more knowledge on the subject than me. whatever you buy, can you post pictures of it?

I have been using the TT Mav Split for quite some time...If you are going to wear a heavy load and long time a robust split chest rig is your choice so you can get rid of it easy and fast and the platform distributes the load better al around you torso. If the load is going to be low it really doesnt matter...go for the one you like most and fit your needs.

I thought about the same question when i bought the TT and finally went for the non-split but the seller sent me the slip instead (best mistake ever lol). No regrets at all

Thanks a lot for the advice guys.
I think its a big advantage of the split chest rig, that it is easier to put it on by yourself.
So I leaning more and more towards it.

If you have any other input or advice would appreciate it.

I wore a Tactical Tailor MAV with bib on deployment. The strap's simplicity may not be appealing but they're not uncomfortable. The entire rig adjusts well to your body (with or without body armor ) underneath. It is not terribly inconvenient but a bit of an action to don the MAV. That is applicable to really any cross strap harnesses without a split.
