Greetings,

I'm looking for info (manufacturer photos/front on pictures would be great) of the types of chest rigs Delta wore during the 80s ops.

I've seen the "usual suspects" like the AWS/Eagle (?) OD/black trim rigs that Paul Howe can be seen sporting in some of his old photos, but how about the black ones that have the exposed button snaps, which sort of resemble the old Rhodesian rigs from the Bush War, as seen in the photo of Dale Comstock, Larry Vickers and a couple other Operators in "that one" photo from Grenada? (Sorry, I don't have the photo on hand to link it - I'm sure it's familiar though.)

Lastly, how about custom vests/webbing as worn by ST6 in Grenada?

Thanks everyone. Any insights or leads in the right direction are appreciated.

- KK

Find user nkomo on usmilitaria or oef\oif forums. He has this LBT made DEVGRU chest rig. Delta chest rigs you're talking about were made by Unit's riggers before the operation.

I hear they have their own sew shop so a lot of early stuff is going to be custom one-off's.

What gear would have DEVGRU worn in the 80's on their first missions?

In the beginning of the 80's the standard ALICE was worn on fatigues. Or the M-65 field jacket with extra (internal) pockets was used on (semi) civilian clothing. Later on, mid/end 80's till beginning 90's, rigs made by ICS (Idema Combat Systems) were used by both Tier One units. After both Keith Idema and Richard Marcinko were found guilty of defrauding the government, fielding for new LBE was started.
