*not sure if this is more at home for here or the protective section*

I came across these for super cheap on eBay while I was looking for an eagle LVAC. Got one, and I am impressed to say the least. VERY low profile. However, it has these X shaped velcro doohickeys on the sides, and I am not sure what the eff they are for.

At first I thought, side sapis, but it makes no sense for them to be mounted behind the soft armor panels. Then I thought, well the issued plates by SOCOM are stand alones so it doesn't really matter, but still I am confused. Hopefully the pictures explain what I mean.

I added a set of LBT shoulder pads, not sure if I want to keep them or not.

The Resource Center is Allied Industries. I don't really understand the idea with the zipper.

Yeah I inow about AI/TRC.

The zipper is how you install the panels and plates. It is super quick and easy, I would guess they made it like that for personnel who have to swap plates and panels between vests perhaps.

I like it better than the kinds that velcro apart at the bottom.

Could be for side SAPIs as you mentioned, but IMO it doesn't look like a great solution...

on a side note, how do you like the vest?

EDIT: In the pic below you can see they listed two sets of cummerbund and 2 sets of "cross support straps"; any chance this could be related to your question?

yeah the paper that came with it said they are cross support straps. i still dont know how they work though. even if they are for stand alone sapis, being behind the soft panels, that means they are going to be laying directly against your body, i cant imagine that being comfortable. unfortunately i dont have any side sapis anymore to try.

as for how i like it, i love it! i believe there are still some on ebay, i won mine for $80, the seller starts them at $69.99.

i had an eagle LVAC before and sold it because it was not low profile enough for my liking, especially in the shoulder area. ive been looking for another just because i havent found anything else i like. when i bought that it was $150 if i remember right. this vest feels very superior to it (at least in the aspects i am looking at) for about half the cost. its more low profile, feel great. i took off the shoulder pads and with it loaded with plates and panels, with a RRV on top of that, it felt great and didnt need or want the shoulder pads on it. i love the quick access of the zipper to the armor compartment. the underside is a mesh that is similiar to the back mesh on an RRV or the MTV. kind of scratchy right now being brand new but it will wear in and get softer. overall, i am impressed and very satisfied. i didnt buy it for collector or "FSBE value", i bought it just because it was cheap and looked like a good low vis BALCS carrier. im thinking of getting another to have as a back up. 10/10.

ill get some more pics of it and post them, me wearing it along with my RRV over it.

another thing i like about it is that it places the plates perfectly for where they should be. my only gripe is the velcro on the shoulders, i would like to tighten them up a smidge more to bring the plates up, but the velcro on the underside doesnt go far enough, so if i wanted to do that i would have to duct tape them or something.
