 Post subject: Experimental Natick Small Of Back SOB IFAK:Thought I'd Share

I've collected gear for years, evolved into making custom pieces for myself and friends. Recently I found this unusual slimline SOB Small Of Back IFAK:

To rig it, you attach the riptab to this velcro tab on the wings, fold the strap over the edge to the wing outer surface, then tuck in the wing leaving the riptab protruding about 2 to 2.5" beyond the IFAK edge:

At first I thought maybe I had an SO Tech early piece or something:

But the construction style from bartacks to Tan499 shade edge binding and the Natick straps on the back all looked like Specialty Group (BAE) does on the current run of Multicam Molle II TA-50 issued in Afghanistan.

Some googling resulted in this short video made by Natick showcasing this model IFAK.

This was a trial model IFAK tested at Ft Polk LA two years ago to replace the 100rd SAW/Utility-style IFAK, which resulted in the adoption of the improved style slim IFAK issued to the US Army.
