I`m going to buy pistol lanyard.
Found out some brands. Looks like people often use gemtech.
Is gemtech gtg? Is there anything good beside it?
What should I know about lanyards befor buying?
Share your experiene please.

Look up a recent thread about lanyards on this forum, you should get a few interesting things out of this.

First question you gotta ask yourself is whether you really need a lanyard or not. What role do you intend it for?

Otherwise, Gemtech is good to go, with a specific breaking strength feature which is interesting.
However, it is a bit on the bulky side.
Blackhawk lanyards are ok as well, simpler and slimmer.

I`m using safariland 6280 with simple duty belt.
One day I found out that hood on my holster is open...
Its happened after few hours of active movement.
So I became paranoic
This is the reason.

Gemtech is gtg. The lenght of the coil is perfect if you are about 180cm+ tall. I bought mine form a guy at ebay for 19usd (his are still up just do an ebay search).

i choose FG color so it will "stick out" from my other gear (khaki web gear and CB rifle sling and backpack) in case it will get tangle up. This way it will be an easy task to get it sorted even under stress. Resist the temptation to match every piece of gear to the same color :) The FG color itself is very good. Somewhat darker than in the UCP pattern, the same "shade" as in the OPS-CORE FG helmet more or less. The color will work in most environment at least in this small device. Urban, the woods and arid.

you could also see my latest youtube video I you want. The lanyard is featured in that one.

Fireforce. Similar to Gemtech in design, comes in more colors, can be had for $12 on ebay. Also has the breaking loose under 100+ lbs. of tension feature that Gemtech has.

I can fully understand the OPs desire for a pistol lanyard. I use a Safariland 6004 mounted onto a UBL on my gun belt. I found that on occasion, the side plates on my PC, through various motions would hit the hood in such a way as to unlock and push it forward.

One story I can recall was when I was on my first deployment and we were practicing LZ drills. At one point I found myself having to run to spot. I noticed two things; people pointing at me and straight dragging feeling behind me. Apparently my M9 had fallen out of the holster (back then it was a Serpa) and was being dragged by the lanyard behind me. Many hours of cleaning followed, but I didn't lose the pistol!
