Looking forward to see the pictures!

Just a question: "Heliograph" = Signal mirror?

Great thread.

Im in the process of building a kit for jungle use, Im using Fatty/ Op Tacticals kit as a base.
Image

Tool logic now do cards aimed at survival, Im planning on getting the one with the compass and magnifying glass built in.

Heres the WETSU kit. WETSU has a lot of experience in this field but I dont like the multi tool, I think its to bulky for what it is. Ive never needed pliers in the J.

The KSK kit looks like its geared towards cold weather. The warming blanket and emergency sleeping bag will add a lot of bulk to it.
But you have to set your kit up for where your working.

http://kitmonster.co.uk/ has some good stuff if your planning on setting one up.

"Heliograph" = Signal mirror Yes

What are the dimensions on that WETSU kit? Not really impressed with it by the look of it's contents.

Will try to post my own kit with some pictures and thoughts this week.

No it s one of the oldschool German Army Knifes made by Victorinox.

The newer ones are build to be opened with one Hand, but they suck hard in my personal opinion...

Was able to take some pictures of my personal stuff that I would use in a survival or E&E like situation. This particular kit is from my 1st line that I use for recce-ish assignments. It has it's own spot in a pocket on the right side of my smock (sharpie for size reference):

Image

This pocket contains the following:

Image
Flint and steel secured to the inside of the pocket

Image
Image
Tin box with handy survival tools

Image
Containments (left to right):
- Pencil
- Candle
- Snare wire
- Cotton ball
- 10x Water purifying tablets
- Needles, thread and 2x button
- Flint and steel
- Whistle
- Little knife
- 2x Water containers (condom like)
- Fishing hooks with 10m line
- 2x Single edged razor blades
- All-weather matches with striker
- Wiresaw
- Button compass
- Safety pins
- Various band aids

Image
Image
Additional stuff in pocket:
- Magnesium
- 15ft of cheap ass rope
- Little mirror for signaling
- Signalling card
- Visible chemlight
- Emergency blanket

Not shown in pictures:
- IR chemlight
- Water purifier
- Signalling Panel
- Escape map (small map with great scale of the theatre in which you're operating)
- Small card with key survival instructions in Dutch

Further, it's very important to properly prepare and rehearse the procedures to use in escape, evasion and recovery. The conduct after capture, evasive plan of action, etc. all play an critical role in increasing your own survival chances. So eventually, your mind will be the most important tool to have in your E&E kit
