I've got shit-tons of medical equipment I keep in case of an emergency situation. I've taught family members a lot of first aid as well. I agree that it is sort of a waste of money to have a lot of the stuff if you don't know how to use it - medical supplies aren't a cheap thing to collect if you've got no working knowledge of it. A lot of the stuff does have instructions on how to use it, but reading the instructions on a NARP crikit as you cut someone's trachea open might not be the best way to learn how to do it.... :P

That was sort of my point.

A lot of this gear comes with a certain risk involved, maybe not the application itself, but indications and contraindications.

I have a lot of advanced medical gear that I am trained on, like cric kits, laryngeal tubes, PVC's, IV fluids etc. I use my medical pack for work, when we are on the range, FTX's etc. I also have it with me on longer private trips.

I am lucky enough that I live in a country where the legislation will protect me if I use this gear in an in-extremis situation, as I have no standing delegation, IN NORWAY, from a licensed and practicing physician to use this stuff.

In Afghanistan we had the delegations we needed, both for equipment use, but also medication.

I know that in some countries the legislation is not as liberal, and just having intravenous catheters and constricting bands is considered drug paraphernalia. When you have NPA's, IO kits, decompression needles and other stuff, you could be in trouble. Especially if you start using it on someone.

*I think the bottom line is to only carry what you know what to use!! Attend some first responder training courses or some other formal training to gather information on items and their uses.*

Will post pictures of my LBT 1562B when I am back from vacation

Brief content list:
Source 3L Bladder
Foldable Litter (Some Milsim Ops Require/Medic Rules)
4 CAT's
3 Quiclots
2 Antibiotic Ointment
2 EpiPen
4 SAM Splints
5 sets of gloves
2 Finger Splints
2 rolls of medical tape
2 sets of shears
5 Guaze Patches
4 Adhesive bandages (Mixed Size)
4 Elastic Bandages
2 Alcohol Pads
Assorted Chemlights
Coolgel Patches (Temp gets 100+ during OK summers)
Pen
Notepad
Hydrogen Peroxide
Rubbing Alcohol
Tweezer Set
Smoke Grenades (Exfil) (Different colors)
Basic Meds (Claritin/Asparin/Allergy and Pain meds)

Went with the 2 is 1, and 1 is none theory!! I am sure some stuff is missing from this list but these are just the basics

I might show some of my stuff later on here but, On a side note i see a lot of guys in here saying i don't carry BLANK-BLANK because I'm not trained to use it. So what! the MED kit that you have on your kit/gear is used for you not someone else, Yeah you might be playing Airsoft but, you might take a nasty fall and get knocked out (whatever it my be) and someone on the field is trained to use that gear, they would simply just break into YOUR MED KIT and work on you, Same with a MED kit for the car stock the stuff in it. There might be someone who knows how to use it and you have it for them to treat a victim. I teach TCCC ( Tactical Combat Casualty Care) and i tell this to my students. (just no drugs)

Working on a streamlined WALK:
Image

TMS litter, two SOTech IFAK pouches on a HGG ALICE panel and an ALICE ruck frame. Each SOTech carries a full plussed up IFAK and an IV (none in the pouches in the picture). Carries well, easier to toss on than the WALK bag. TMS is mounted to the HGG panel with MALICE clips. Trying to bridge the gap between the all-purpose WALK bag and the IFAK for each squad. Probably going to try to get one per team, real world feedback welcome.
