I would say there is some better kit from European manufacturers available. Does anybody know why they chose TYR?

According to the press release from the danish mil, there were three different models that were tested, and the Tyr vest scored highest among the users. Some of the tests conducted were:

-Obstacle course
-Ruck marches
-"Off road" low crawling and belly crawling
-Agility course in an urban environment
-Different shooting courses

Again, the Tyr product won because that is what the end users liked the best.

What is bad about the Tyr products, in your opinion? Which European brands are better?

I'm having a problem with thinking of any European brand that could compete with Tyr, especially when it comes to COTS plate carriers and armor.

Lucky Danes.

Well, the German brand Lindnerhof Taktik has several plate carriers with soft armor from BSST (also German)(one of those is issued to German SOF and SF) and UK Tactical has some products with soft armor by Nexus.

But still a lucky choice for the Danes, makes me wanna move a bit more to the north an join them^^

A small lot of Tyr plate carrier was bought also by Italian Army SF (9° Col. Moschin).
Personally I prefer other PC...

Well, just in northern europe, there's NFM, and Snigel design, among others, they both have COTS products with innovative designs.
On the other hand, I've heard some concerns over fluctuant QC with Tyr, although I got to say they got some really good stuff in their catalog

According to what I have heard about Snigel, they aren't something to brag about. NFM has a few hits and misses.

I know that NFMs armor (well, that's FREC plates and BSST(?) soft armor) is good, but I do not feel that NFM offers a system of carriers that interact together as well as Tyr does. Actually, they don't interact together at all imo.

I took your question more in a general sense, ie COTS offering in Europe
I don't now what the danish army was after, just the regular body armors/plate carriers offering, or do-it-all integrated modular solutions. More power to them if the latter, in which case Tyr was one of the few available choices.

I'm pretty sure that there are a few pics of the Danes decked out in TYR kit on FB, or there were last time I looked.
