SMGLee at ar15.com, from the SHOT Show 2008 Coverage on ar15.com

Quote:

About a year back, Eagle's top gear designer name withheld, whom designed some of Eagle's best MOLLE vests, left Eagle and went to BAE, now BAE, has won the latest round of the SOCOM contract to provide armor vest to SOCOM. This is the latest vest from BAE. GSA pricing are below 200.00, retial are at approx. 350.00. Very similiar to the CIRAS Land, but with upgraded design features.

Side pouches can be a plate carrier ot hold two M16 mags.

the back of the vest are more modular, you don't have to disassemble your pouches in order to get to the interior to relace the quick release or make adjustments.

side plates or two M16 mags.

Now there is nothing that says this is the next CIRAS. Interesting vest anyway.

Hello,
Here are a couple of pictures I took during the last Shotshow. The RBAV looks like some compromise between Land CIRAS and the latest Paraclete products. I didn’t have the chance to fingerfuck it while I was there.

is it the "same" vest that Eagle talked about (think it was last year) making for the airforce? the one where the QR only dropped the plates and not the entire vest? never seen that one on the market.

No, I'll try to dig up some pics.

Here is some more info on the vest you were refering to :

http://www.tactical-life.com/online/special-weapons/combat-integrated-armor-carrier-system/

It was also present at this year's shotshow on Eagle's booth so I guess the project is still alive.

It's nothing to see with RBAV, except if M.J. was also involved in design.

I spoke with the Marketing director over at BAE and he said that these are only being sold to the government at this point in time. If a civilian is interested in purchasing one, they can be bought but it has to be in the US and the buyer has to have a signed letter of approval from their hometown police chief.

This thing is really nice and seems to be well thought out. I handled one briefly but didn't get a chance to take it off the wall so my finger fucking was limited.
