I'm thinking about to spray paint ACU chest rig to make it more familiar with Multicam. Let's say I'm fine to make it coyote or khaki (I got basic Krylon camouflage paint - khaki, sand, brown, OD).
Well, basic advice is go thru and see what results you get but at the same time I don't want to mess up the rig
I had tried to search on internet but haven't find any valid info on this issue.

Have you had any experiences with spray painting ACU (UCP) gear?

Haven't sprayed ACU, but I think I would dye it first, then spray it, since most sprays will chip off after just a little while.

I tried with spraying one of my ACU mag pouch just lying around.

The color was... well, just the krylon color. Nothing wrong, but if you're gonna go khaki base, it might be a bit too bright for the multicam.

Everything was fine except that as essal mentioned, it keeps flaking off. It's not something major that it effects the color majorly, but you'll just constantly have the paint coming off and feel like you have sand on your pouches or something. I was fine with a pouch, but I personally wouldn't do that with a whole rig

You could always dye the ACU pouch with clothing dye ie brown, then try and spray paint it afterwards. This should work as I have seen ACU dyed before and it worked well.

Dye the gear. Spraypaint is a really inefficient and non-durable solution.

i've sprayed kyrlon on some UCP gear and it was fine. It will chip after awhile but it's just spray paint.

Do a khaki base, lay some camo net over top, and hit it with green and brown. G2G.
