 Post subject: ID this back of Norotos NVG mount strap

I need help IDing what the "attachment" on the back of the back hook of this Norotos NVG mount ratchet strap is used for.

Isn't that for the lpbp that has the cut out area, so it snaps in?

But the hook looks pretty tight, like it'd have to go on something thin, not a regular ballistic helmet

Yeah, that mount is for battery packs.
There is also a fancy counterweight available for those "old" tension strap mounts:

I'll take some detailed pics after work and post them.

And good info on the battery packs. I'm guessing because straps weren't that common, seeing battery packs attached to them would have been very rare. The counter weight system is cool too!

This strap came attached to a standard GI NVG plate on a TC 2002 I picked up. Doing some research, these seem to come standard on Norotos 3-hole shrouds with the helmet clips.
