The closest guys in the top pic are French, not Afghan Police. You can see the ANP Ford Ranger and make out 4 ANP in the background.

ANSF SELECTION

Notice the striking resemblance to our very own SFAS. ;)

Afghan Special Forces participate in a night raid training exercise in Kabul April 11, 2012. It's a special-forces entry like no other and guaranteed to spoil the element of surprise, but Afghanistan's new elite soldiers insist they will be no less effective in countering insurgents than controversial night raids by U.S. forces. Love the LBT Slick + 2586 combo most of them are rocking.

Superman patch with radio mounted sideways across the chest :/

Is all the LBT gear issued? Handed down? Replica? I'm guessing handed down from US SOF?

Does anyone know why their safety lanyards are running round the right side of their body instead of the left? All the UKSF and US SOF pictures I have seen have the lanyards running around their left side.

If you look at where they have anchored it on their belt, it appears the anchor point on their belts is on the right side where as most other belt systems have the anchor point on the wearers left side.

Guys are wearing them on both side, probably just how they put their belt on.

Nice to see their best gears. But how about the M4A1's issued to them after the ISAF contingent leave Afghanistan? The spareparts will be stocked by US Govt or locally made Khyber style or AKs will be back?

I can almost guarantee that there will be no clear answer. As was the case in every conflict - there will remain a mixture of platforms with a clusterfuck of a logistical backbone.
