If there is something specific you want to know I can try and help. One of my best friends is a K9 Handler with Group.

I love dogs... I would like to know more about what kind of training the dogs and handler have, what there capabilities are etc. Are the dogs selected like normal working military dogs or do they go through other tests and I want pics plz! :D

I have been told that all the dogs come from Germany...not sure if that is true or not.

Cowboy, where the dogs come from is really a matter of where the organization wants to buy them, how much they want to spend, what the dog will be used for, etc.

Working dogs are selected by bloodline and character traits, and are selected by people who have alot of experience around them. For example, not all dogs of a certain bloodline or even a particular litter will bite. Sure, most working breeds have ball/prey drive, but not all will bite on command and without fear (fight drive). That is character trait that is largely genetic, and varies from dog to dog.

Most of them come from Europe, but with the current demand some are being selected from pedigree litters born in CONUS. My Malinois, for example, came from Holland and was a KNPV trained dog. My buddy with Group has a dog from Holland as well. I know alot of dogs that came from Belgium as well as Germany.

Most dog training is much more simplistic than you would imagine. I was stunned how rudimentary it is when I was first introduced to it. It all comes down to time and repetition. It is simply learned behavoir.

I'll see if I can edit some pics of my buddy with his K9 and post them here.

You are correct, the harnesses are made by EI. They send in measurements and they are custom made to fit the dog.

Here are a few pics I edited.
