the difference is this is a gear forum. it's about the gear. weather it be a real world setup, a collector, a wannabe, a airsofter, a impressionist, ultimately it's about the gear, no matter you underlying reason for buying the gear.
if you use it real world, great. if you like to play dressup, great. if you like to buy and sell, great. whatever your intentions for buying and sporting you gear is, then that's your prerogative. I feel that the admins and mods have done an excellent job here of keeping that motivation in line and not getting off track (like now). we keep airsoft at bay. we keep personal tactic discussions at bay. as this is about GEAR!
I just don't quite understand myself why someone posting a "1990 VBSS" detailed kit/loadout never draws any backlash for "pretending to be something he's not" but when that same guy posts a current seal kit, and has a patch, the oh noeeessss!!!! is that not similar? he didn't go through buds 20+ years ago or whatever to earn the spot of being a seal.... but nothing when posting a macsov load?
isn't impression the ultimate form of flattery?
I personally get a kick out of how many international people copy my country's finest fighting forces! I mean how many Americans are dressing up as uksf? I love it!
and end rant off to bed after a great 18 hr work day. so don't go posting any cop loads or I will be forced to chime in!!!! hahahaga

Yes, I do understand that the FORUM is about gear. However, when interpreting the OP, where it says this is a thread where we can post our loadouts, be it military, LE or civilan, it's pretty clear it is not meant for impressions.
The civilian part is pretty all inclusive, but when you look at the intent of the thread; to learn from one another, it is to me pretty clear that it means training gear.

There is nothing wrong with posting an impression on these boards, but does it have to be in this thread? A good example is the series of NSW impressions posted.

Make you own thread for it, no big deal.

Ok guys, everyone take a chill pill and let the GS crew handle this.
You need to be aware of that GS isnt about impressions, but gear. GS wasnt designed to handle the amount of impressions posted lately and the heat it comes with. We are however aware of the current situation and will in a near future redesign the various sections to avoid confusion.

While this is happening we urge you to use your common sense and keep away from discussing offtopic stuff whether you think its in order or not. If you absolutely need make your voice heard regarding this matter, head over to the suggestion forum or write a message to the crew.

I don't like to repeat myself so behave.

OK, my work loadout:
Image
Detailed photos of PC:
http://pararescueman.sweb.cz/DSC09960.JPG
http://pararescueman.sweb.cz/DSC09974.JPG

ops-core base jumper with cover
peltor ACH
O' M-Frame
Eagle DA-PC (insert from BHI triple mag pouch, paraclete double mag, TT frag, benchmade rescue hook, paraclete smoke, paraclete CANSOF and small ute, rubber-banded TQ)
SPM recon pack (it was mandatory, otherwise I love my LF RAID pack 8) )
Depending on mission I was carrying G17 in PC or in drop leg holster
EI shotshell pouch on EI riggers belt used as IFAK
arc'teryx kneecaps
OTB bushmasters

What I really loved about this setup was it's flexibility. i was able to carry 3-6 mags, frags, smoke, radio without moving any pouch.

Now that's worthy of it's very own thread, kaja.
Would love some shots of how you did the cover for the helmet.

Actually, the cover is from shop on our base (designed for steel pots :? ), just attached with help of some duct tape to better fit the shape of brainbucket (and also rinsed with hot water and let dry on helmet to get the shape, but without much of a result..). Then I cut few holes in it to get to velcro for attaching goggles/lights and finally weaved some jute through loops.
Nothing hi-speed I)

I may take few shots next week, but really nothing fancy. It just plainly do the job

That's really legit - only thing off is the pistol. Unless you were a medic, PL, or on an M240 team a regular joe like an RTO wouldn't get an M9, just your M4. But if someone was to show me that picture and say it was them in Afghanistan, I'd be likely to believe them.

well I'll look all my pics to find so RTO's pictures, but I thought it was a specialty, but if an US soldier tell me, no m9 on a SPC who is a RTO, I drop the safa and put my gerber on my belt.

thx

When I was in A-stan back in 08/09 I was issued an M9. In fact, my entire BCT was issued M9s. And let me tell you... I hated that fucking pistol!

Good work on your "impression." Us grunts don't get enough recognition these days... It's always SOF this, NSW that :P
