If I'm not mistaken, he has bypassed the integral PTT of the radio by soldering a wire from the PTT to the PCB in the PTT/radio.
If you find a scanner that works on the 2.4GHz band I suppose you could be able to, but fucked if I know, nor do I see the point.

When you would want PTT/Headset/etc 'X' to work with a certain comms platform, it probably will come down to your cunningness with electronics. In essence that PRR just is a little receiver/transmitter that works within the 2400-2483 MHz range.

It has 256 (16 x 12) possible channels, but only 16 will be directly available to switch between, since you'll have to disassemble the unit to select a next set of channel presets.

Regarding scanning for active frequencies, it would not be worth the effort IMHO (that is, if you would actually be able to modify it to work at all). It's range is poor and seeing the band it operates in, antenna placement is a very limiting factor.

First and foremost, the internets.
And once we buy shit we find on the internets, we take it apart and tinker with it ;)

Oh, and a quick math correction: It offers 16 channels and 16 subsets, making for 256 channels total.
Furthermore, a PCB is a Printed Circuit Board. You'll find them inside both the PTT and radio itself.

You could use a packet sniffer app with a monitor mode capable wifi card. Channel hopping is common with the 802.11* standards. Would be cool to see if it uses some standard voip protocol.

Yup, just needed 3 resistors (30Ohm)(analog passive mixer) and a female headphones connector. :D
Works great!
