I was browsing around for a review of the SCARPA KAILASH GTX, when I came across this review:

http://www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews ... 0McDonald/

Seems to be a thorough review with "long term" testing.
Anyway, it gives a lot of praise to the boots. Which might explaine the the lot of them showing up with the 75th rangers.

You cant go wrong with Scarpa i own 2 pairs of shoes from them and worn out a pair of climbing boots so they are G2G in my book. Im going to take some of his rewiev with a pinch of salt like for example the feet in water thing (he's boots hardly look worn) and that would explane why he is dry.

I try to stay away from G-Tex boots cos i dont think they breathe enough and they hold on to odour alot more than natural fabric do. But now days finding good quality "tecnical" mountain boots without G-Tex is hard to find.

I can see how this typical boot is eyecandy since its worn buy HSLD guys and from a impression point of wiew its spot on.

Nice to hear a second voice on this boot!
Hope you liked the review, I sure did :P
Then again find it on a ranger an i'm totally biased in my opinion.

Yeah really nice photos man!
So you have tried them on for size? compared them to your asolo's?
If you compare them in size is there any difference? Might be a nice indicator.

Tried them for a quick walk for size, stability and weight.

Size is like the same (Asolo size chart, Scarpa size chart), I felt that they had less stability than the Asolo's and the weight is better.

Other than that I don't know.

Here is another review by GearScout on the Scarpas, picure-heavy, all courtesy of Stickman.

Maybe you find it useful.

A little late to the game, but to those qualified for Promotive, Scarpa is a sponsoring deal and you can get a great deal on these boots from there.
