I know it was out at SHOT, but I have not seen it anywhere. Is it for sale?

My company is Ops Core's largest distributor on the west coast, so we get the info on their products straight from them. Here's the skinny on the Maritime:

This helmet is practically the same as the traditional high cut FAST, but it is cut slightly higher on the sides. Currently, it is being produced solely for a specific U.S. T1 unit that requested its development and they are working to fill that contract before it becomes commercially available. Given OC's current lead times, it will be a while before they offer it.

Clasky,

Can you tell us anything about the new comm set up from OPS Core?

I think they call it the RAC headset?

I also heard it was a different material from the average FAST. 20% less weight with the use of the new material and higher cut.

Ops Core Tech Rep told me that the Maritime Cut helmets were only going to Military sales and no others......not even LEO. Ops will not even sell the Maritime specific velcro or rails/suspension system.

I played with one a few months ago with AOR1 "like" dip camo and it was nice and light. Seems there are two types of Velcro pattern added, but most fielded have been DG Tan and at least one in digital MARPAT. First SPear covers are here in abundance......still a great deal price wise and nicely made.........the vented model is great with the Military base jumps and Carbon model Bump.........

Strange thing is that the ARC rail almost fits the MICH2001 by MSA hole pattern and the Ops suspension system almost drops into the MICH2001 without mod........

The Ops Core Maritime is still much lighter than the MICH2001 by anyone......a test model that came from Ops Core sold on the street locally for $2000......and it came in a neat little Ops Core helmet bag that looked like a bowling bag.........must have been a loaner that "walked" or got ripped out of the supply building at a local Team. It is now sitting on the desk of an Army SF type at the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk.........seems he is putting together a concept of SF unit gear needs for the next 20 years.......Guess Ops Core is still in the front of personal armor........whether their new armor system makes it to fruition is anyone guess......but it is awesome!

Am I reading correctly that an active duty SF guy actually shelled $2000 for a shady origins FAST in order to work on a SF project??

On a side note, I got to play for a short time with SLAAP, I was pretty impressed, especially weight wise... Much better than Crye's own solution. Waiting for the back side version!

Nope,

Went from collector's display to SF desk......Ops Core is getting a new contract from SOCOM for the Maritime cut helmets and a newer, lightweight 3A helmet that looks a lot like a merge of the Maritime and High Cut MICH2002.....only with Ops Core styling and accessories. It also has the Manta Strobe Velcro patch on the crown, so more money for S&S Precision it looks like.....

There have recently been a ton of pics released on militaryphotos of SF guys with FAST maritime helmets as well, so it looks like it's not just the Navy that's getting them. I don't want to post a link to the pics since they aren't PERSEC'd.

every branch of USSOCOM has received Maritime helmets as of now. Not every single unit and or individual, but there were a lot made in DG tan, with the standard velcro arrangement they've used on regular FAST helmets. Rangers, SF, PJ's, CCT's, EOD, SEALs, MARSOC, all have a few maritime FASTs within certain units. They'll be popping up more and more since it's now standard issue, and jump approved. Soldiersystems also mentioned them "becoming more and more popular". There's technically photographic evidence of them in use with all the above mentioned units but finding them can be tricky cause they can be overlooked as regular FASTs.

here's a few I found for example:

EDIT: more references ( I think CCT's)
